8x Slim 2.5-Inch DVD±RW Drive

Compatibility Considerations

Builders needing Blu-ray read or write capability should look at a different drive. Systems without a 2.5-inch internal bay or a free Serial-ATA port cannot use this unit. Buyers who want a slot-load mechanism or a black bezel will need another model.

Questions about this item

What does the 8x speed rating mean for everyday burning tasks?

The 8x rating indicates the maximum write speed for compatible DVD media, so a full single-layer disc takes roughly eight minutes under ideal conditions.

Which version of this slim drive should I pick for a standard laptop bay?

The 2.5-inch Serial-ATA form factor matches most internal laptop optical bays, and the white bezel fits common chassis colours.
