180W Replacement PSU for OptiPlex SFF

This 180 watt power supply replaces the original unit in Dell OptiPlex 3040, 5040 and 7040 small-form-factor desktops. It also fits the Inspiron 3650 SFF chassis. The part matches Dell part numbers D180ES-00, AC180ES-00, L180ES-00 and F180ES-00.

Direct swap for proprietary SFF power

The unit uses the exact connector layout and mounting points required by these OptiPlex and Inspiron models, so no adapter cables or case modifications are needed. It restores reliable power delivery for the factory motherboard, CPU and integrated graphics. Builders adding discrete graphics cards or extra drives that exceed the 180 watt limit will need a different chassis and power supply.

Questions about this item

Will the 180 W limit of the YINGHUA PSU throttle an OptiPlex 7040 SFF under sustained load?

The unit is rated at 180 W continuous output, so any sustained draw above that will trigger over-current protection and shut the system down.

How much heat and fan noise does the 180 W YINGHUA supply produce when an Inspiron 3650 runs all day?

At typical office loads the fan runs at low speed and exhaust air stays warm but not hot; sustained loads near 180 W spin the fan higher and increase both noise and case temperature.
