What this adapter does

The YINGHUA 5.1 Audio Adapter connects a source with stereo RCA outputs to a 5.1 multimedia speaker system that uses three 3.5 mm inputs. It lets consoles such as the PlayStation 2 deliver multi-channel sound through standard PC speakers.

Direction limits of the RCA interface

The adapter provides bidirectional conversion between two RCA female sockets and three 3.5 mm female jacks. Stereo RCA carries only two channels, so true 5.1 discrete audio cannot be transported over this connection; the speaker system must derive surround channels from the stereo pair.

Check your speaker inputs before ordering

Verify that your 5.1 speaker set accepts three separate 3.5 mm plugs for front, centre/subwoofer and rear channels. If the speaker system expects a single digital or multi-pin connector, this analog splitter will not fit.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 2 RCA to 3×3.5 mm version or a different adapter for my 5.1 speaker system?

This model provides exactly two RCA female inputs and three 3.5 mm female outputs, colour-coded for front, centre/sub and rear channels, so it matches a standard 5.1 multimedia speaker set.

What does the 5.1 label mean when I plug this into my console and speakers?

It indicates the adapter splits a stereo RCA source into three analogue 3.5 mm jacks that carry front left/right, centre/subwoofer and rear left/right signals for 5.1 multimedia speakers.

Does the 3.5 mm interface limit the audio quality or channel count I can get?

The three 3.5 mm female connectors each pass an analogue stereo pair, together delivering the full 5.1 channel layout without digital conversion or compression.
