PowerEdge R830 CPU heatsink

This heatsink is built for the Dell PowerEdge R830 server and carries the 0WV97V part number. It fits the processor socket directly to move heat away from the CPU. The unit is supplied new and ready for installation in compatible chassis.

Sustained thermal dissipation

Under continuous load the heatsink maintains stable temperatures by spreading heat across its fin stack. It is designed for the constant airflow pattern of the R830 rather than short bursts. Builders needing a different form factor or a second unit for another platform should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How much noise and heat does the 0WV97V heatsink generate under continuous load?

The heatsink is a passive component with no fan, so it produces no noise; it transfers CPU heat to the chassis airflow, and its thermal output matches the processor's TDP.

Which server chassis and mounting hardware must I already have for the WV97V to fit?

It is designed for the PowerEdge R830; you need that chassis with the correct CPU socket retention frame and sufficient clearance for the heatsink height.
