What it is

The Yottamaster SB230 is a compact 6-in-1 USB-C modular adapter finished in black. It adds three USB 3.0 Type-A ports, a 4K HDMI output, a 3.5 mm audio jack and a 100 W Power Delivery pass-through port to laptops and tablets that support DisplayPort Alt Mode. All ports operate simultaneously for travel or desk setups.

The spec that decides fit

Your host device must provide video output over its USB-C port using DisplayPort Alt Mode; the hub does not convert a data-only port into a video source. The HDMI output reaches 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz and scales down to 1080p or 720p automatically. The USB-C port on the hub accepts up to 100 W of charging power but carries no data.

Thermals noise and power

The adapter has no fan and runs silently during normal use. It draws operating power from the host bus and passes up to 100 W through to the connected charger, so total system draw depends on the attached peripherals and the power supply you provide. The aluminium shell helps dissipate warmth from the conversion circuitry.

Questions about this item

What does the 4K@30Hz HDMI output actually deliver on a laptop?

The HDMI port outputs up to 3840x2160 at 30 Hz and falls back to 1080p, 1080i or 720p when the display or cable cannot handle the higher rate.

How much power can the USB-C PD port pass through to the host?

The USB-C female port accepts up to 100 W Power Delivery for charging the laptop; it does not carry data.

Will the 1.18 x 0.61 x 4.33 inch adapter fit alongside other ports on a thin ultrabook?

At 1.18 inches high, 0.61 inches deep and 4.33 inches wide it sits flush with most side-mounted USB-C ports and weighs 3.17 ounces.
