H5studio 32-Bit Float Recorder
The Zoom H5studio is a four-track portable recorder built for videographers, podcasters and field recordists who need professional audio on location. Its X/Y stereo microphone uses 19.4 mm capsules to capture a wide frequency response with natural spatial depth. Integrated RF shielding keeps recordings clean near smartphones and wireless gear.
32-Bit Float Headroom
32-bit float recording removes the need to set gain levels, so quiet dialogue and loud concerts up to 140 dB SPL are captured without clipping. Traditional 16-bit and 24-bit modes are also available at sample rates up to 192 kHz. The recorder handles four simultaneous tracks plus a stereo mix, with two XLR/TRS combo inputs providing 48 V phantom power for external microphones.
Capsule 3.0 and Timecode Limits
The unit accepts Zoom Capsule System 3.0 modules to swap microphone configurations for different scenes. The bundled TCA-1 adapter adds SMPTE timecode synchronisation for multi-camera shoots, but the recorder itself has no internal timecode generator. Buyers needing more than two analogue inputs or built-in timecode generation will need a larger field recorder.
