This adapter adds a USB 3.0 female port to any Lightning-equipped iPhone or iPad. It enables direct connection of flash drives, card readers, keyboards, mice, MIDI keyboards and USB hubs without installing an app. The plug-and-play design lets photographers and mobile workers move files between camera storage and iOS devices on the go. It is not compatible with USB-C iPads or iPhones.

Check your Lightning port

Verify that your device uses a Lightning connector rather than USB-C. The adapter's Lightning plug extends point eight millimetres beyond the connector body, so thick or full-coverage cases may prevent full insertion and cause poor contact. Remove the case if necessary to ensure a secure fit. The adapter requires iOS nine point two or later on iPhone and iPadOS eight point zero or later on iPad.

Sustained file transfers run at USB 3.0 speeds

The USB 3.0 interface supports theoretical throughput up to five gigabits per second, which is faster than USB 2.0 for moving large RAW photo batches or HD video clips.
