Single-channel HD passive balun

This single-channel HD passive video balun carries real-time analogue video over UTP cat5e or cat6 cable without any external power supply. It is intended for installers connecting HD-TVI, HD-CVI or AHD cameras to a DVR or monitor using twisted-pair infrastructure.

Distance limits under continuous use

Colour video reaches 440 metres for HD-CVI 720P, 240 metres for HD-CVI 1080P, 230 metres for HD-TVI 720P, 250 metres for HD-TVI 1080P, 320 metres for AHD 720P and 330 metres for AHD 960P. The 60 dB crosstalk and noise immunity rating is maintained across these lengths, and built-in TVS, wave-filter and lightning-protection designs keep interference rejection stable during sustained operation.

Push-in terminals and pigtail

A 150 millimetre mini-coax pigtail ends in a male BNC for the camera or recorder side, while the UTP side uses a push-pin terminal block that accepts solid or stranded conductors without tools. The ABS housing is not rated for outdoor exposure, so buyers who need a weather-sealed enclosure should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Does the passive balun draw any power or generate heat when running continuously?

No power is required so it produces no heat and draws zero current during all-day operation.

What cables and connectors must I already have to install the push-in terminal and BNC pigtail?

UTP cat5e or cat6 for the push-pin block and a female BNC socket for the 150 mm mini-coax pigtail.

Will the 60 dB crosstalk immunity hold up next to older analog cameras still using NTSC or PAL?

Yes, the balun supports NTSC, PAL and SECAM formats and maintains 60 dB noise immunity with legacy cameras.
