Adamant Custom Threadripper 9960X Workstation

This workstation pairs a 24-core Threadripper 9960X with 128GB DDR5 ECC memory for heavy compute tasks. The 6TB NVMe SSD and 10TB HDD give fast scratch space plus deep archival capacity. It targets engineers, researchers and creators who need sustained multi-thread throughput and large local datasets.

Thermals Noise Power

A 360mm liquid cooler handles the CPU while the 1200W 80 PLUS Gold PSU uses a 140mm fan for low noise. The Corsair 5000D FRAME case includes front and rear 120mm fans to move air across the GPU and motherboard. Over-voltage, under-voltage, over-power and short-circuit protections are built into the supply.

Bundled Extras

Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed so the system is ready for production workloads immediately. The Gigabyte TRX50 AERO D board adds dual USB4 Type-C ports, four USB 3.2 Gen 2 and four USB 3.2 Gen 1 at the rear. Internal headers provide additional USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, USB 3.2 Gen 1, USB 2.0, eight SATA 6Gb/s and four M.2 slots for future expansion.

Questions about this item

How is the 360 mm liquid CPU cooler mounted on the Threadripper 9960X, and what step is often missed?

The cooler uses the sTR5 mounting bracket; the step often missed is removing the protective film from the cold-plate before securing the four captive screws in a diagonal pattern.

Which component in this workstation will need replacement first under heavy write workloads?

The Samsung 990 PRO SSDs have a finite write endurance; the 2 TB and 4 TB drives will reach their TBW limit before the 10 TB HDD or the DDR5 ECC memory.

What thermal limit appears first when the 24-core Threadripper 9960X runs at 5.3 GHz boost for extended periods?

The 360 mm AIO reaches its heat-dissipation ceiling, causing the CPU to throttle below the 5.3 GHz boost clock to stay within its thermal envelope.
