64-Core Threadripper Workstation

This liquid-cooled desktop pairs a 64-core AMD Threadripper 9980X processor with 256GB of DDR5 ECC memory. The system targets professionals who need sustained multi-threaded throughput for rendering, simulation or large-model training. Two 120mm case fans and a 360mm AIO keep the 1200W platform stable under continuous load.

Upgrade From Older Threadripper Platforms

Builders moving from earlier sTR5 or sTRX4 workstations gain 64 cores with up to 5.4 GHz boost, 256MB L3 cache and PCIe 4.0x4 NVMe storage reaching 7450 MB/s reads. The jump is worth it when current jobs saturate 32 cores or when ECC memory capacity limits dataset size. The 10TB SATA drive adds high-capacity archival space without sacrificing NVMe lanes.

PCIe 4.0 NVMe And SATA Limits

Both Samsung 990 PRO SSDs operate at PCIe 4.0x4, capping sequential throughput near 7450 MB/s regardless of newer controller revisions. The 10TB hard drive runs on SATA 6Gb/s, so sustained writes sit well below NVMe speeds. The motherboard provides four M.2 slots and eight SATA ports, but only the two installed NVMe drives use the fastest lanes.

Questions about this item

Will the Corsair 5000D Frame case fit on a desk that is 520 mm deep?

The case measures 520 mm deep, 245 mm wide and 520 mm high, so it needs at least that much desk depth plus room for rear cables.

Does the 360 mm liquid cooler mount to the motherboard or the case, and what step do builders miss?

The 360 mm AIO radiator mounts to the case fan positions; the step often missed is connecting the pump header and routing tubes without kinks.

When will the 10 TB SATA III hard drive and the two Samsung 990 PRO NVMe SSDs need replacement?

The 10 TB HDD and both NVMe SSDs have no fixed lifespan; replace them when SMART health drops or capacity runs out.
