Threadripper 9970X 32-Core Workstation

This liquid-cooled desktop pairs a 32-core AMD Threadripper 9970X processor with 512GB of DDR5 ECC memory. It targets professionals running multi-threaded simulations, rendering pipelines or large-model AI workloads that demand sustained core counts and error-correcting RAM. The system ships with Windows 11 Pro installed.

Upgrading from limited core counts or non-ECC memory

The jump is worth it when your current workstation bottlenecks on thread throughput or suffers silent data corruption during long compute jobs. Eight additional M.2 slots and four SATA ports on the TRX50 AERO D motherboard let you expand the existing 10TB NVMe array and 10TB SATA drive without replacing the platform.

Verify TRX50 motherboard clearance

Ensure your rack or desk accommodates a 520mm deep chassis and that the 360mm radiator has mounting space. The 1200W 80 Plus Gold PSU uses a single 140mm fan; confirm your circuit can supply the rated load. No other platform-level constraints are listed.

Questions about this item

What case clearance does the 360 mm liquid cooler require?

The Corsair 5000D Frame case supports a 360 mm radiator mounted at the top or front, with 520 mm depth and 245 mm width providing room for the 120 mm fans included in the AIO kit.

Which motherboard power connectors must be seated for the Threadripper 9970X?

The Gigabyte TRX50 AERO D board uses dual 8-pin EPS connectors; both must be fully inserted before first boot or the 32-core CPU will not post.

How many 3.5-inch drive bays remain free after the 10 TB HDD is installed?

The case provides two internal 3.5-inch bays; one is occupied by the 10 TB SATA drive, leaving one bay available for future storage expansion.
