Portable backup drive

The ADATA DashDrive Durable HD650 is a 1TB portable hard drive built for users who need durable external storage. It connects through a USB 3.0 interface and draws power from the host port. The drive suits anyone wanting a rugged backup device that survives daily transport.

Build integration

The 2.5 inch form factor fits in a small bag pocket and requires no external power adapter. A supplied USB 3.0 cable provides the only connection needed for Windows, macOS or Linux systems. Triple-layer construction with a rubber coating absorbs shocks that would damage a bare drive.

Sustained operation

A blue LED indicator shows power and transfer status during long copy sessions. The scratch-resistant composite housing keeps the exterior intact after repeated handling. SuperSpeed USB 3.0 maintains consistent throughput for large file batches without thermal throttling concerns.

Questions about this item

What is the sustained-transfer ceiling of the USB 3.0 interface on the ADATA HD650?

The SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface caps sustained throughput at the bus maximum of 5 Gbit/s, so long sequential copies will not exceed that limit.

How much heat and noise does the 2.5-inch drive produce during all-day operation?

The 2.5-inch mechanism runs silently with no fan; its composite housing stays warm but not hot during continuous use.

Which operating system must the host already run for the drive to work out of the box?

Windows XP through 8.1, Mac OS X 10.6 or later, or Linux kernel 2.6 or later are required for native recognition.
