Seven-foot Cat 6 patch cable

This seven-foot Cat 6 patch cable carries Ethernet traffic between two RJ-45 ports. It is built for home-office desks, small-business racks or any installer who needs a short, compliant link. The black PVC jacket keeps the run tidy in cable trays or along baseboards.

Category 6 rating for gigabit speeds

The cable meets the Category 6 standard, supporting up to 1 Gbps over its full 6.99 ft length. That rating is the single specification that decides whether the link will run at the negotiated speed without errors. UTP construction and PVC insulation satisfy typical indoor fire-code requirements.

Handles desktop and patch-panel runs

At 2.13 m the cable comfortably spans from a wall jack to a desktop switch or between adjacent patch-panel ports. It runs out when the distance exceeds the installed length, so longer trunk routes need a different cable. The fixed RJ-45 plugs cannot be re-terminated in the field.

Questions about this item

What does the 6.99 ft length mean for a typical desk-to-switch run?

At 6.99 ft (2.13 m) the cable reaches from a desktop or wall port to a nearby switch or router with a little slack for routing around furniture.

What does the Cat 6 rating cap in practice?

Cat 6 supports up to 1 Gbps Ethernet over the full 100 m channel, so this 7.0 ft patch cord will not limit gigabit speeds.

What connectors does it need to plug into?

Both ends are RJ-45 male plugs that fit standard Ethernet ports on PCs, switches, routers and wall jacks.
