7 ft Cat6 Gray Patch Cable

This AddOn ADD7FCAT6GY is a 6.99 ft Cat6 UTP patch cable with snagless RJ-45 connectors. The grey PVC jacket protects the twisted-pair conductors for standard Ethernet links. It suits home, office or lab networks that need a reliable copper connection.

Who should buy it and who should not

Installers running short horizontal runs between a switch, router or wall plate and a PC, printer or access point will find the length convenient. Builders who need plenum-rated cable, shielded construction or a different colour should look at other options. The fixed 6.99 ft length also limits use where longer or custom-cut links are required.

Cat6 rating and 6.99 ft length

The cable is rated to the Cat6 performance class and measures exactly 6.99 ft end to end. These two facts determine whether the link meets the distance and bandwidth needs of a given installation.

Questions about this item

Will this Cat6 cable work with the Cat5e patch panel and router I already own?

Yes. Cat6 is fully backward compatible with Cat5e and Cat5 equipment, so the 6.99 ft gray cable will link at the highest speed both ends support.

How can I confirm the link is running at gigabit speed once I plug it in?

Check the port LEDs on your switch or router — a solid amber or green indicator typically means a 1 Gbps connection has been negotiated.

Does the package include only the cable or are RJ-45 couplers and a cable tester also supplied?

The box contains the single 6.99 ft Cat6 UTP patch cable with snagless RJ-45 plugs on both ends; couplers and testers are sold separately.
