Active DisplayPort to HDMI converter

This active DisplayPort to HDMI converter connects a DisplayPort output to an HDMI display while passing 5.1 channel surround sound. It handles single-mode or multi-mode DP++ signals for broad compatibility with graphics cards and laptops. The compact black adapter suits desktop builders and mobile users who need a reliable digital audio-video link.

Build integration and flexibility

The 8-inch dongle plugs directly into a DisplayPort male port and presents an HDMI female port for a standard HDMI cable. Its short length reduces cable strain and keeps the signal path clean inside tight chassis or behind monitors. No external power is required, so the unit draws what it needs from the DisplayPort source.

Audio passthrough and active conversion

The built-in active circuitry translates DisplayPort signalling to HDMI without degrading the 5.1 surround audio stream. This means a single cable run carries both high-definition video and multichannel sound to an HDMI-equipped display or receiver. The converter eliminates the need for separate audio cables or software workarounds.

Questions about this item

Will the 5.1 surround sound stay in sync during long sessions?

The active converter passes 5.1 channel audio through the HDMI link without re-encoding, so sync is maintained as long as the source and display support the format.

Does the adapter get warm when driving a display all day?

The compact 2.40 oz unit draws power from the DisplayPort port and runs cool enough for continuous operation in typical office or home setups.

Do I need an HDMI cable to connect my monitor?

Yes, the converter provides an HDMI female port, so a separate HDMI male-to-male cable is required to reach the display.
