Compact card scanner for front-desk workflows

The Ambir DocketPort 667 is a simplex sheet-fed scanner built for single-sided cards and documents up to 4.13 by 10.00 inches. It captures images at 600 dpi using a CMOS CIS sensor and completes a grayscale scan at 300 dpi in three seconds. USB 2.0 connectivity provides both data and power, so no external adapter is required. The 1.60 by 2.00 by 7.50 inch form factor weighs 0.54 lb and fits on crowded counters in hospitals, banks or retail desks.

Included software enables direct PDF output

A supplied CD delivers AmbirScan acquisition software that writes scans straight to industry-standard PDF files. A TWAIN driver makes the device visible to thousands of existing Windows applications on XP, Vista, 7 and 8 in both 32-bit and 64-bit editions. The AutoContinue function lets operators feed a stack of cards continuously without pressing a button for each sheet, reducing repetitive steps during high-volume intake sessions.

Simplex feed limits use to single-sided media only

The scanner pulls paper or cards through a straight path in one direction, so it cannot capture the back of a document in the same pass. Media thickness is rated to 1.40 mm, accommodating laminated IDs and embossed plastic cards, but double-sided forms or bound booklets fall outside its capability. Buyers who need duplex scanning or flatbed flexibility for fragile originals should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Does the CMOS CIS sensor in the DP667 need periodic cleaning or replacement?

The CMOS CIS sensor has no user-replaceable parts; keep the feed path clear of dust and debris to maintain scan quality.

What limits continuous scanning of thick cards at 300 dpi?

The 3-second-per-card cycle and 1.40 mm thickness limit set the sustained throughput for laminated or embossed media.

How much heat or noise does the USB-powered DP667 produce during all-day use?

With no external adapter and only USB 2.0 power, the scanner runs cool and quiet even during extended batch scanning.
