What this hub adds

The Anker 15394 turns a single USB-C socket into four USB-A ports, an HDMI output and a Gigabit Ethernet jack. It is built for laptop, tablet and phone users who need legacy peripherals and a wired network link without carrying multiple dongles.

Speed ceiling and power limit

The four USB-A ports share a 5Gbps USB 3.0 uplink, so total throughput cannot exceed that bandwidth. The upstream USB-C power port accepts only 5V 2A for bus-powered devices and does not pass video or data, so connected drives must stay within that current budget.

Deciding spec: port mix

One USB 3.0 port and three USB 2.0 ports mean only one device can run at 5Gbps; the other three top out at 480Mbps. If your workflow needs several simultaneous high-speed drives, this hub will bottleneck them.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 2ft cable or a shorter version for my desk setup?

The 2ft cable gives enough reach to route the hub behind a monitor stand while keeping the USB-C host port within easy reach of a laptop or tablet.

What does the 5Gbps headline speed mean when I plug in a USB 3.0 flash drive?

Real-world transfers peak at the drive's own limit, but the hub's USB 3.0 port and VL160 chipset maintain the full 5Gbps link so large files move at the drive's maximum rate.

How does the USB-C host interface cap performance compared with Thunderbolt?

The hub runs over a standard USB-C 5Gbps connection, so total bandwidth shared across the four ports cannot exceed 5Gbps even if the host supports Thunderbolt.
