Step-Down Transformer UPS

The APC Smart-UPS SRT3000XLT-5KTF is a new battery backup unit that steps 208V or 240V input down to 120V output while also passing 208V through. It delivers 3000 VA and 2700 Watts through 14 outlets, making it suitable for server rooms and network closets that need mixed-voltage distribution from a single high-voltage feed.

Suits mixed-voltage racks; not for 120V-only feeds

This unit fits administrators who must power both 120V and 208V equipment from a 160-275V source using a NEMA L6-20P plug. It provides pure sine wave output, RJ-45 Serial, SmartSlot and USB management, plus audible and visible alarms. Buyers whose utility power is only 120V cannot use the step-down function and should look at a standard 120V-input UPS instead.

160-275V input window decides compatibility

The UPS accepts an input range of 160-275V at 40-70 Hz auto-sensing, so the building supply must stay within those limits for normal operation. At half load the battery runs for 11.4 minutes and at full load for 3.8 minutes, with a three-hour recharge using the APCRBC152 cartridge. Surge protection is rated at 340 Joules and the unit meets CSA C22.2 No.107.3-05, ENERGY STAR 2.0, FCC Part 15 Class A and UL 1778.

Questions about this item

How do I connect the NEMA L6-20P input plug to a 208 V source and which of the 14 outlets should I use for critical servers?

Wire the L6-20P to a 208 V circuit rated for 20 A, then plug mission-critical loads into the eight NEMA 5-20R or four NEMA L6-20R outlets; the L6-30R and L14-30R also provide battery backup for higher-draw gear.

Which replacement battery cartridge does this unit take and how long does a full recharge take?

The UPS uses the APCRBC152 cartridge; after a full discharge it reaches full charge in about 3 hours.

What is the maximum runtime I can expect when the UPS is loaded to its 2700 W rating?

At full 2700 W load the internal batteries deliver approximately 3.8 minutes of backup time.
