What the Apple TV MD199LL/A is

The Apple TV MD199LL/A is a compact media player that connects to a display through a single HDMI port and delivers 1920 x 1080 output resolution. It ships with 8 GB of integrated storage for movies, music and photos and includes a two-prong power cord in a black finish.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This unit fits viewers who want a simple way to stream purchased or rented content to a Full HD television and who are comfortable with the fixed 8 GB of local storage. Buyers who need more storage for large offline libraries or who require additional connectivity such as Ethernet or USB will not find those options on this device.

Behaviour under sustained load

During extended playback sessions the player maintains the 1920 x 1080 output without dropping frames, relying on its passive thermal design to stay within operating limits. The integrated storage continues to serve cached media reliably over long periods, and the single HDMI link remains stable throughout continuous use.

Questions about this item

Does this Apple TV MD199LL/A require a television with an HDMI input to connect?

Yes, the device has one HDMI port for video and audio output, so the display must provide a matching HDMI input.

Will the 1920 x 1080 output resolution work with an older 720p television?

The Apple TV outputs at 1920 x 1080; a 720p set will downscale the signal, but the image will still display.

How can I confirm the Apple TV MD199LL/A is streaming at full 1080p after setup?

Play a known 1080p title and check the on-screen info banner — it should report 1920 x 1080 resolution.
