Encrypted 8 TB desktop drive

The Apricorn Aegis Padlock DT ADT-3PL256-8000 is an 8 TB desktop external hard drive with a USB 3.0 interface and a 3.5 inch form factor. It uses 256-bit AES hardware encryption validated to FIPS PUB 197 to protect data on the fly. The drive requires no software installation and is ready to use once a PIN is configured.

Suits users needing hardware-encrypted bulk storage

This drive suits users who need high-capacity portable storage with hardware-based encryption and no software dependency. It is not suited for buyers who need bus-powered operation for mobile use. It is also not suited for users who require the peak transfer speeds of a direct-attached internal drive.

USB 3.0 interface with FIPS 197 validated encryption

The single specification that decides fit is the USB 3.0 interface combined with FIPS 197 validated 256-bit AES hardware encryption. This provides software-free, cross-platform security at up to ten times the speed of USB 2.0. Verify that your system has a USB 3.0 or compatible port to achieve the stated performance.

What comes in the box and what must I source separately?

The package contains the Aegis Padlock DT 3.5" desktop enclosure with the installed 8 TB hard drive, a USB 3.0 cable for host connection, and an external power adapter; no additional cables or software licences are needed.

Which capacity version of the Aegis Padlock DT should I choose?

This model is the single 8000 GB variant; select it when you require the maximum 8 TB of hardware-encrypted storage in the desktop form factor.
