A TPM 2.0 module with SPI interface, 24 PCRs and 7206 bytes of NV memory for server platform security
The ASRock Rack TPM-SPI is a discrete trusted platform module that adds hardware-based cryptographic functions to compatible server boards. It targets system integrators and administrators who need measured boot, disk encryption key storage or platform attestation on hardware that lacks an integrated TPM.
Typical standby current is 110 µA, so the device adds negligible load to the platform power budget. It is rated for standard operation from -20 °C to +85 °C and an enhanced range down to -40 °C, allowing deployment in cooled racks or harsher industrial environments without active cooling.
The module uses a 32-pin VQFN or UQFN footprint that is pin-compatible with the SLB 9670 TPM 1.2, enabling drop-in upgrades on validated layouts. Twenty-four PCR banks support SHA-1 or SHA-256 measurements, while 7 206 bytes of non-volatile memory and support for up to 64 active sessions provide headroom for multiple concurrent security contexts.

Plug the 32-pin PG-VQFN-32-13 or PG-UQFN-32-1 package into the dedicated SPI TPM header, then enable the TPM 2.0 device in the BIOS Security menu; the step most builders skip is activating it in firmware after physical insertion.
The module has no moving parts or battery; it requires no scheduled maintenance, and replacement is only necessary if the motherboard fails or platform certification demands a newer TPM revision.
The firmware caps concurrent operations at 64 active sessions and 3 loaded transient objects, so heavy key-generation workloads hit the session ceiling before thermal or power limits appear.
