Audiophile gaming headset with planar drivers

The ASUS ROG Kithara uses 100mm HIFIMAN planar magnetic drivers tuned by ROG for an 8Hz to 55kHz frequency response. Its 16-ohm impedance suits portable sources while the open-back architecture creates a wide, natural soundstage. Gamers seeking reference-grade detail in competitive titles will hear precise imaging across the entire spectrum.

Consistent fidelity during long sessions

Planar magnetic technology maintains low distortion even at high output levels, so tonal balance does not shift during extended play. The open-back cups vent heat naturally, preventing the pressure build-up common with sealed designs. An eight-level adjustable headband and 420-gram weight distribute load evenly for fatigue-free wear over many hours.

Upgrade from standard dynamic headsets

This replaces closed-back gaming headsets that compress soundstage and mask subtle cues. The jump is worth it for players who need accurate positional audio and a detachable MEMS boom mic with 20Hz to 20kHz capture. Buyers wanting wireless convenience or active noise cancellation should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How much power does the 100mm planar magnetic driver draw during all-day use?

The 16-ohm impedance lets the headset run efficiently from a phone, controller or laptop port without an external amp, so power draw stays negligible even after hours of play.

Which connector must my device already provide for the headset to work?

A 3.5mm, 4.4mm balanced or 6.3mm jack is required; the box also includes a USB-C adapter that splits to dual 3.5mm plugs for devices lacking those ports.

Will the open-back 100mm driver leak sound into a quiet room shared with older speakers?

Yes — the open-back design radiates audio outward, so anyone nearby will hear game sound and chat, unlike closed-back models that contain the audio.
