16-inch WUXGA 165Hz gaming laptop

The ASUS ROG Strix G16 G615JMR is a 16-inch gaming laptop built around an Intel Core i9-14900HX 24-core processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 graphics card with 8 GB GDDR7 memory. It ships with Windows 11 Home, 96 GB of DDR5 5600 MHz memory in dual-channel configuration, and a 2 TB PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe SSD. The Eclipse Gray chassis measures 13.94 by 10.55 by 0.90 to 1.21 inches and weighs 6.02 lbs.

RTX 5060 8 GB GDDR7 graphics

The single specification that determines suitability is the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 GPU with 8 GB of GDDR7 video memory. This discrete graphics card drives the 165 Hz IPS-level WUXGA panel at 1920 x 1200 resolution. Buyers should confirm that 8 GB VRAM meets the texture and frame-buffer demands of their target titles and creative workloads before purchasing.

Factory-upgraded thermal paste and memory

HIDevolution applies Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut on the CPU and Gelid GC Extreme on the GPU before shipment, replacing the stock thermal interface material. The 96 GB DDR5 kit is installed as two 48 GB modules in dual-channel mode. No user disassembly is required for these upgrades, but repasting or memory changes later will void the customizer’s warranty seal and require careful reassembly of the cooling assembly.

Questions about this item

What does the i9-14900HX 5.8 GHz turbo mean for real workloads?

The 24-core 14900HX hits 5.8 GHz on its performance cores, so heavy renders, compiles and multi-tasking finish faster while the 36 MB L3 cache keeps data close.

How does the PCIe 4.0 x4 link affect the 2 TB SSD speed?

The drive runs on a PCIe 4.0 x4 bus, capping sequential throughput at the Gen 4 limit rather than Gen 5.

Will the 13.94 x 10.55 x 1.21 inch chassis fit my 16-inch sleeve?

The G615JMR measures 13.94 by 10.55 by 1.21 inches at its thickest point, so a snug 16-inch sleeve works but a tight 15-inch one will not.
