16-inch WUXGA 165 Hz gaming laptop

The ASUS ROG Strix G16 G615JMR is a 16-inch Windows 11 Home notebook built for high-refresh gaming and heavy multitasking. It pairs a 24-core Intel Core i9-14900HX processor with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 graphics card carrying 8 GB of GDDR7 memory. The IPS-level display runs at 1920 x 1200 resolution and 165 Hz.

Sustained load with custom thermal compounds

HIDevolution applies Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut on the CPU and Gelid GC Extreme on the GPU before stress testing each unit. The liquid metal and high-conductivity paste combination lowers junction temperatures during long sessions, letting the 5.8 GHz max turbo and the RTX 5060 hold higher clocks without throttling.

Upgraded memory and storage from stock configuration

The base laptop ships with less memory and a smaller drive; this build installs 96 GB of DDR5 5600 MHz RAM in dual-channel mode and 8 TB of PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe SSD storage across two 4 TB modules. The jump is worth it when you run virtual machines, large texture packs or memory-hungry creative workloads that exceed standard capacities.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the i9-14900HX and RTX 5060 run during long sessions?

The build applies Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut on the CPU and Gelid GC Extreme on the GPU to lower core temperatures under sustained load.

What must I already own to use the 96 GB DDR5 5600 MHz memory and 8 TB PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe storage?

Nothing extra is required; the laptop ships with 2 x 48 GB modules and 2 x 4 TB drives already installed and configured.

Can I keep using my older 1920 x 1200 165 Hz external monitor with this G615JMR?

Yes, the 16" WUXGA 165 Hz panel matches that resolution and refresh rate, so the external display will run at its native settings.
