LGA 1700 ATX board for 12th, 13th and 14th Gen Intel Core with DDR4, 16+1 power stages, four M.2 slots, PCIe 5.0, WiFi 6E and 2.5 Gb Ethernet
Model ROG STRIX Z790-A GAMING WIFI D4
The ASUS ROG Strix Z790-A Gaming WiFi D4 fits Intel Core processors from the 12th, 13th and 14th generations plus Pentium Gold and Celeron CPUs in an LGA 1700 socket. Four 288-pin DDR4 slots support dual-channel memory up to 128 GB with overclocked speeds reaching 5333 MT/s. The board targets enthusiasts who want a high-end Z790 platform while retaining existing DDR4 kits.
A 16+1 phase VRM delivers up to 70 A per stage through dual ProCool II connectors, alloy chokes and durable capacitors. Massive heatsinks with an integrated I/O cover and high-conductivity thermal pads spread heat across the power delivery area. This arrangement keeps voltages stable during prolonged multi-core workloads rather than only brief boost periods.
The primary x16 slot runs at PCIe 5.0 with a CPU from the supported generations, while two chipset x16 slots operate at x4 electrical. Four M.2 sockets accept 2242, 2260, 2280 and 22110 form factors, all wired for PCIe 4.0 x4 and fitted with heatsinks. USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C on the rear I/O and a front-panel header with PD 3.0 up to 30 W set the practical bandwidth ceiling for external storage. WiFi 6E and 2.5 Gb Ethernet handle network traffic.
