Socket LGA 1700 ATX platform
This ASUS Z790 motherboard accepts Intel Core 12th, 13th and 14th generation processors plus Pentium Gold and Celeron chips in an LGA 1700 socket. The board uses a 12+1+1 power module rated at 60 amps per stage to deliver stable current to the CPU. Two DDR5 DIMM slots support memory speeds up to 8200 MT/s when overclocked and include AEMP II profiles for easier tuning.
Three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots with heatsinks
Three M.2 slots wired for PCIe 4.0 each have a dedicated heatsink to keep drive temperatures in check during sustained workloads. A bundled M.2 carabiner tool simplifies drive installation without screws. SafeSlot Core+ reinforces the primary PCIe slot for heavier graphics cards and BIOS FlashBack allows firmware updates without a CPU installed.
Dual-channel DDR5 and 2.5 Gb Ethernet
Two memory slots limit total capacity to two modules so builders planning four sticks should choose a different board. The Realtek 2.5 Gb Ethernet port and WiFi 6 controller handle wired and wireless networking while SATA 6 Gbps ports remain available for additional storage drives. USB 10 Gbps Type-C and HDMI outputs cover modern peripheral and display connections.

Questions about this item
Will the three PCIe 4.0 M.2 heatsinks need replacement or maintenance later?
The three M.2 heatsinks are passive metal parts with no moving components; they do not require scheduled replacement or maintenance.
What limit appears first when the 12+1+1 60A power modules run under sustained load?
The VRM heatsinks and thermal pads manage heat from the 60A power modules; thermal throttling of the CPU is the first limit under continuous heavy work.
How much noise, heat or power draw should I expect from the Realtek 2.5Gb Ethernet and WiFi 6 running all day?
Both the 2.5Gb Ethernet controller and WiFi 6 module are low-power silicon; they add minimal heat and no audible noise during continuous operation.
