Ready-to-use laptop for home and entertainment

The ASUS VivoBook 15 S513 arrives with Windows 10 Home installed and a 2TB SATA SSD already fitted. An 8-core Ryzen 7 4700U processor runs at 2.00GHz base and can reach 4.10GHz boost. 12GB of DDR4 memory is split between 8GB onboard and a 4GB SODIMM module. The 15.6-inch non-touch panel shows 1920 x 1080 resolution. Integrated Radeon graphics handle everyday visual tasks.

Thermals, noise and power in normal use

A 45W power adapter charges the 3-cell 42 WHr battery. The chassis uses a standard fan profile that stays quiet during web browsing, video playback and office work. Surface temperatures remain comfortable on the palm rest and keyboard deck under typical mixed loads. Fan speed rises only when the processor sustains higher frequencies for extended periods.

The spec that decides fit: 2TB SATA SSD capacity

The single 2TB SATA drive sets the total storage ceiling; there is no second M.2 slot or 2.5-inch bay mentioned for expansion. Buyers who need more space must rely on external drives or cloud storage. The 12GB RAM layout is also fixed because 8GB is soldered to the board. Only the SODIMM slot could be upgraded, and even that would max out at a modest increase.

Questions about this item

How do I add more memory to the 4 GB SODIMM slot on this laptop?

Remove the base cover, insert a DDR4 SODIMM module at an angle until it clicks, then press down flat; the 8 GB onboard portion cannot be changed.

Which part will need replacement first during long-term ownership?

The 3-cell 42 WHr battery is the only user-replaceable component that degrades with charge cycles.

What limits sustained performance on the Ryzen 7 4700U?

The 45 W power supply and integrated Radeon graphics thermal envelope throttle clocks during extended heavy loads.
