Connects a KVM switch to DisplayPort video and USB ports with smart card support and automatic signal compensation
The ATEN KA7169 connects a compatible KVM switch to a target computer using DisplayPort video and USB ports. It adds a USB plug for smart-card or CAC reader support. Auto signal compensation adjusts for cable length without manual DIP-switch configuration. The adapter weighs approximately 3.67 oz and meets RoHS and WEEE environmental standards.
This adapter suits administrators managing Aten KVM switches such as the KH1508A, KH1516A, KN2124v, KN4124v, KM0532 or KM0932 models listed in the compatibility data. It is not for installations that require HDMI, VGA or DVI video inputs. It also does not fit switches outside the supported Aten families or setups needing multiple video heads from a single adapter.
The first end provides one DisplayPort male connector and two USB Type-A male connectors for video, keyboard, mouse and smart-card data. The second end terminates in a single RJ-45 female jack that links to the KVM switch via Cat-type cabling. This specific connector arrangement determines whether the adapter matches the target computer and switch ports.

The computer side requires one DisplayPort male and two USB Type-A male connectors for video, keyboard/mouse and smart-card data.
Plug the DisplayPort and both USB Type-A ends into the target computer, then connect the KVM switch via a Cat5/6 cable to the RJ-45 female port; the step often missed is seating both USB plugs so smart-card/CAC enumeration works.
The adapter has no moving parts or batteries; only the Cat5/6 patch cable to the KVM switch may wear and need replacement over time.
