KVM Extension Cable CE-120

This KVM extension cable carries keyboard, video and mouse signals between a console and a computer. It uses DB-15 and 6-pin PS/2 connectors on each end for legacy compatibility. The colour-coded design helps administrators match ports quickly during installation. It suits server-room operators who need to place a console farther from the rack.

Thermals, noise and power draw

The cable is a passive copper assembly with no active electronics, so it generates no heat and produces no audible noise. It draws no external power and adds negligible resistance to the signal path. UL 2919 and UL 2464 ratings confirm the insulation meets recognised safety standards for normal operating temperatures.

Bundled accessories and software

No software, drivers or additional accessories are included in the package. The colour-coded connectors themselves act as the only installation aid, reducing wiring errors without extra documentation. Buyers who need signal conversion, USB support or longer runs than the cable provides will require separate active extenders or converters.

Questions about this item

How do I install the CE-120 KVM extension cable and which connector orientation is commonly mistaken?

Match the colour-coded DB-15 and 6-pin PS/2 plugs to the same-coloured ports on both ends; the step often missed is reversing the male PS/2 connectors so the keyboard plug goes to the keyboard port and the mouse plug to the mouse port.

What maintenance or replacement will the CE-120 cable need over time?

The UL 2919 and UL 2464 rated cable sheathing resists wear, so only the DB-15 or PS/2 connectors may need replacement if pins bend or the latch tabs break after repeated mating cycles.

What limit appears first when the CE-120 cable runs continuously at full KVM signal load?

Signal attenuation over the 120-inch length is the first constraint; beyond that distance video skew or keyboard/mouse drop-outs can occur without an active repeater.
