Connectivity for dual displays

The two-pack supplies a pair of DisplayPort male to HDMI female adapters so a single computer can drive two HDMI screens at once. Each unit is passive and draws no external power. The gold-plated contacts resist corrosion and the latch mechanism on the DisplayPort end secures the connection against accidental disconnects.

Practical effect of the bundle

Having two identical converters lets you extend a desktop across two monitors or mirror the same signal to a projector and a TV without swapping cables. The adapters carry both video and multi-channel audio up to 7.1 surround, so sound follows the picture to whichever HDMI device is attached. Plug-and-play operation means no driver installation is required on supported systems.

Resolution and refresh limits

The passive design supports up to 3840x2160 at 30 Hz and 1920x1080 at 60 Hz, with lower resolutions such as 1280x1024 and 1600x1200 also available. It cannot convert an HDMI source to a DisplayPort display, and it will not deliver 4K at 60 Hz or higher refresh rates that demand an active converter or a newer DisplayPort version.

Questions about this item

Do the gold-plated connectors on these adapters need any special cleaning or replacement over time?

The gold-plated DisplayPort and HDMI connectors resist corrosion and abrasion, so they do not require periodic cleaning or replacement under normal use.

What is the highest refresh rate these adapters can sustain at 1080p resolution?

The adapters support a maximum of 60 Hz at 1920x1080 resolution; higher refresh rates at that resolution are not supported.

Do the adapters generate noticeable heat or draw extra power when used continuously all day?

The passive, plug-and-play design has no active circuitry that produces heat or draws additional power beyond the DisplayPort source during extended use.
