Audio-Technica BP898 Cardioid Condenser Lavalier Microphone

Professional Lavalier Microphone

The Audio-Technica BP898 is a subminiature cardioid condenser lavalier microphone designed for professional broadcast, stage, and presentation use. Its discreet profile allows for unobtrusive placement on talent while delivering high-quality voice capture. The fixed-charge condenser element ensures accurate sound reproduction for critical applications. It serves performers, lecturers, and worship leaders requiring clear, intelligible audio.

Cardioid Polar Pattern Focus

The cardioid pickup pattern minimizes background noise by focusing sensitivity on the sound source directly in front of the capsule. This pattern rejects off-axis sounds, providing enhanced isolation in challenging acoustic environments. A pronounced proximity effect enriches low-frequency vocal presence when the microphone is positioned close to the speaker. The effect diminishes naturally as distance increases, allowing flexible placement options.

Power Module and Low-Cut Filter

The microphone connects via a cH to XLR connector through the included AT8545 power module for integration with professional audio equipment. A switchable low-cut filter at 80 Hz reduces unwanted low-frequency rumble and handling noise. This filter helps maintain a clean signal chain before the signal reaches the mixer or recorder. The module ensures reliable phantom power delivery for consistent condenser operation.
