Outdoor PTZ dome with motorised zoom

The AVI-8 5.0C-H5SL-DO1-IR is a 5 MP outdoor dome camera built for pan tilt zoom coverage. Its varifocal lens moves between 3.1 and 8.4 mm to adjust the field of view remotely. The unit mounts on surfaces in ceilings or on pendant brackets for flexible placement.

Sustained exposure handled by electronic shutter

The electronic shutter operates from 1/6 to 1/8000 second to manage changing light through the day. The 1/2.8 inch imager captures 5 MP detail without motion blur in bright conditions. Continuous PTZ movement tracks subjects across wide areas without manual refocus.

Verify mounting surface and cabling route

Confirm the chosen surface in ceiling or pendant location can support the dome weight. Ensure the network and power cable run reaches the mounting point without sharp bends. Check that the 3.1 to 8.4 mm zoom range matches the required monitoring distance.

Questions about this item

How much power does the 5MP PTZ dome draw when running continuously outdoors?

The camera operates on standard PoE+ power, so a single Ethernet cable supplies both data and the motorised pan-tilt-zoom mechanism all day.

What mounting hardware and cabling must I already have to install the 3.1–8.4 mm outdoor dome?

You need a surface, in-ceiling or pendant bracket plus a PoE+ injector or switch and a Cat5e or better cable run to the mounting point.

Will the 1/2.8" 5MP sensor and 3.1–8.4 mm lens match the field of view of my older 1080p fixed cameras?

The wider 3.1 mm end covers more area than most 1080p fixed lenses, while the 8.4 mm tele end lets you zoom in on detail the older units cannot reach.
