Dual-Head 10.0 MP Coverage

The Avigilon H5A camera combines two 5 MP sensors in a single housing, delivering a combined 10.0 MP resolution for wide-area monitoring. Each head uses a varifocal 3.35 to 7.0 mm lens to adjust the field of view. It suits installers who need dual perspectives from one mounting point.

Compression And Network Efficiency

H.264 HDSM SmartCodec and H.265 HDSM SmartCodec reduce bandwidth and storage consumption while maintaining image quality. Motion JPEG is also available for compatibility. The 100BASE-TX RJ45 interface connects over standard CAT5e cabling for reliable data transmission.

Single-Mount Installation

Mounting one dual-head unit replaces two separate cameras, reducing cabling and alignment time. The varifocal lenses allow on-site focal-length adjustment between 3.35 and 7.0 mm. Horizontal coverage spans 43° to 91° and vertical coverage spans 32° to 67°. Buyers needing more than two viewing angles or wireless connectivity should consider other form factors.

Questions about this item

Does the dual-head camera need periodic lens cleaning or IR window maintenance?

The two 5 MP heads are housed behind a fixed cover; only occasional exterior cleaning of the dome is required — no user-serviceable lens or IR components inside.

Which specification limits continuous recording first — storage bandwidth or network throughput?

The 100BASE-TX link caps sustained throughput at 100 Mbps, so network bandwidth will saturate before the H.265 SmartCodec stream fills local storage.

How much heat does the camera generate when powered over its RJ45 PoE connection all day?

Power is delivered over the single RJ45 100BASE-TX port; the unit runs cool enough for standard soffit or wall mounts without extra ventilation.
