Avigilon H5A 4MP Bullet Camera

The Avigilon H5A bullet camera captures 4MP video using a 1/2.8 inch CMOS sensor. It is built for outdoor surveillance with a varifocal lens that adjusts between 3.3 and 9 mm. The unit switches between colour and monochrome modes depending on light conditions. It suits installers who need a single rugged camera for perimeter monitoring.

Compression limits and lens range

Video is encoded with H.264 HDSM SmartCodec, H.265 HDSM SmartCodec or Motion JPEG. The varifocal lens provides optical zoom across the 3.3 to 9 mm focal range. Surface mounting fixes the viewing angle once aimed. Buyers who need remote pan, tilt or motorised zoom will not find those functions here.

4MP resolution decides fit

The 4MP imager sets the detail level for recorded footage. If the project demands higher pixel counts for facial recognition at distance, this camera will not meet that requirement. The 90-day seller warranty covers initial deployment only. Long-term support terms must be arranged separately.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 4MP H5A bullet camera over another resolution in the H5A line?

The 4MP model delivers 4.0 megapixels on a 1/2.8 inch CMOS sensor with a 3.3-9mm varifocal lens, giving you adjustable field of view for outdoor bullet mounting.

What does the 4MP resolution actually give me once the camera is installed?

You get 4.0 megapixel colour or monochrome video from a 1/2.8 inch CMOS imager, with a 3.3-9mm varifocal lens that lets you set the exact viewing angle on site.

Which compression standards does the H5A bullet camera support and what do they limit in practice?

It encodes in H.264 HDSM SmartCodec, H.265 HDSM SmartCodec and Motion JPEG, so bandwidth and storage scale with the chosen codec while the varifocal lens covers 3.3-9mm focal lengths.
