Product identity

The Avigilon 5.0C-H5A-DP2 is a 5.0 MP pendant-mount outdoor dome camera from the H5A series. It covers a varifocal range of 9 to 22 mm and records in colour or monochrome using H.264 HDSM SmartCodec, H.265 HDSM SmartCodec or Motion JPEG compression. The unit is supplied new.

Who it suits

This camera suits installers who need a single rugged dome with flexible zoom for outdoor areas such as car parks or loading bays. It is not for buyers who want a multi-camera kit, integrated recorder, built-in infrared illumination or wireless connectivity.

Deciding specification

The 9 to 22 mm varifocal lens determines the field of view and identification distance; confirm that this range matches the scene width and mounting height before purchase.

Questions about this item

What compression standards does the H5A dome camera use and what resolution ceiling do they cap at?

The camera encodes video with H.264 HDSM SmartCodec, H.265 HDSM SmartCodec and Motion JPEG at up to 5 MP resolution.

What mounting hardware does the pendant dome require for outdoor installation?

The unit uses a pendant mount; a compatible pendant arm or bracket rated for outdoor use is needed to secure the dome.

How is the camera initially configured on the network and which step is often missed?

Connect the camera to the network, assign a static IP or reserve its DHCP lease, then add it to the VMS; the step often missed is reserving the IP address so the device stays reachable after a reboot.
