PS5-ready portable storage

The Avolusion HD250U3-WH is a 1 TB portable hard drive pre-formatted for PlayStation 5. It connects through a USB 3.0 port and draws power from the bus, so no separate adapter is needed. Gamers can move PS5 titles to the drive to free the internal SSD, while PS4 games run directly from the external storage. The white aluminium chassis measures 2.5 inches and includes a blue activity LED.

Plug-and-play setup with one common pitfall

Installation is a single cable connection to any PS5 USB 3.0 port; the console recognises the drive immediately. The only frequent issue is forgetting that PS5 games must be copied back to the internal SSD before they can be launched, which adds a few minutes per title. No driver installation or console disassembly is required, and the bus-powered design keeps cabling minimal.

Verify console USB port and game-management workflow

Before ordering, confirm your PS5 has an available USB 3.0 port for permanent use. Understand that PS5 games cannot be downloaded straight to this drive — they must land on the internal SSD first, then be moved. If your workflow relies on installing new PS5 titles directly to external storage, this device will not support that step.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the drive is working after plugging it into my PS5?

The blue LED lights up during data access, and the PS5 recognises the pre-formatted drive as extended storage so you can move PS4 games to it immediately.

What comes in the box and what must I buy separately?

The drive itself is included; it draws power from the USB 3.0 port so no separate AC adapter is needed.

Which capacity version should I choose for my PS5 library?

This model provides 1 TB of storage, enough to offload a large collection of PS4 titles and free the internal SSD for PS5 games.
