PS5-ready portable storage

This 1 TB portable hard drive arrives pre-formatted for PlayStation 5 extended storage. It connects through a USB 3.0 port and draws power from the console, so no external adapter is required. The slim 2.5-inch enclosure fits easily beside the system.

Replaces internal-only game management

The drive lets you move PS5 titles off the internal SSD to free space without re-downloading them later. PS4 games can be launched directly from the USB device. The jump is worth it when the internal SSD fills up and re-download times become impractical.

Plug-and-play setup with LED feedback

Installation is a single cable connection; the console recognises the drive immediately and prompts for formatting if needed. A blue LED indicates data activity so you can confirm transfers are running. The only common issue is forgetting that PS5 games must be copied back to the internal SSD before they can be played.

Questions about this item

What size drive bay or slot does the 2.5-inch enclosure require?

The drive uses a 2.5-inch form factor inside a slim, bus-powered enclosure that connects directly to a USB 3.0 port without a separate power adapter.

How do I set it up on a PS5, and what step do people often miss?

Connect the USB 3.0 cable to the console, then format the drive as extended storage in Settings > Storage; the common mistake is trying to download PS5 games directly to the drive instead of moving them from the internal SSD.

Will the pre-formatted file system need to be changed later?

The drive arrives pre-formatted for PS5 extended storage; if you later use it with a PC or different console, you will need to reformat it to a compatible file system such as exFAT or NTFS.
