A 1.5 m passive QSFP28 direct-attach cable carrying 100 Gbps over four 28 Gbps lanes for switch-to-switch links
This 100GBASE-CR4 passive DAC provides a 100 Gb Ethernet connection between switches, routers or servers fitted with QSFP28 ports. The 1.5 m twinax assembly arrives pre-coded for Mellanox platforms and functions identically to the OEM cable it replaces. It suits data-centre operators who need a short, low-latency interconnect without active optics.
Passive copper construction means the link draws no power and adds no active components that can throttle under continuous load. Signal integrity is maintained across the full 1.5 m length at 28 Gbps per lane, so the 100 Gbps aggregate rate remains stable during prolonged transfers. Heat output stays negligible because there are no onboard electronics to dissipate energy.
The cable meets the multi-sourcing agreement that guarantees mechanical and electrical fit in any MSA-compliant QSFP28 cage. Each end carries a unique serialised part number, eliminating identification conflicts in mixed-vendor racks. Buyers whose equipment requires an active or optical module for longer reach will need a different solution.

No published specifications for this item yet.
As a passive direct-attach copper cable it has no active components, so it produces no measurable heat or audible noise during all-day operation.
Both ends require a QSFP28 port that supports 100GBASE-CR4 electrical lanes; the cable plugs directly into those ports without additional transceivers.
No — the QSFP28 form factor and 100G electrical signalling are not compatible with 10G SFP+ ports or adapters.
