  • 12 Gbit/s SAS throughput for high-speed storage links
  • 0 m length gives flexible rack-to-rack routing
  • Dual SFF-8644 Mini-SAS HD connectors ensure secure server links
  • Compatible with QNAP ES1640dc v2 and EJ1600 v2 NAS servers
  • Taiwanese manufacture meets strict component quality standards

What it is

This is a new Mini-SAS cable built to the SFF-8644 specification. It carries 12 Gbit/s SAS signals between compatible QNAP NAS servers and expansion units over a 2.0 metre run.

Who it suits

The cable connects ES1640dc v2 and EJ1600 v2 systems that expose SFF-8644 ports. It will not work for installations that require a different connector style or a longer reach than 2.0 metres.

Deciding specification

The single factor is the SFF-8644 connector on both ends paired with a 12 Gbit/s SAS rating. If your hardware uses that exact interface the cable fits; otherwise it does not.

Questions about this item

Will the 12 Gbit/s Mini-SAS link negotiate down to 6 Gbit/s if I connect it to an older SFF-8644 HBA?

Yes, the SAS interface is backward-compatible, so the cable will operate at the highest speed both ends support, including 6 Gbit/s on legacy controllers.

How can I verify the 12 Gbit/s link is active after I plug the 2.0 m cable into my ES1640dc v2?

Check the NAS management console or HBA utility; it will report the negotiated link speed as 12 Gbit/s per lane when the connection is healthy.

Does the box include two SFF-8644 Mini-SAS HD connectors already fitted on the 2.0 m cable, or must I buy them separately?

The cable ships with one SFF-8644 Mini-SAS HD connector on each end pre-terminated; no additional connectors are required.
