Splits a 40 Gbps QSFP+ port into four 10 Gbps SFP+ links over a 2 m active optical cable weighing 0.41 lbs
This Axiom active optical cable splits a single QSFP+ 40 Gbps port into four independent SFP+ 10 Gbps links. It is built for network engineers who need to connect top-of-rack switches to server NICs or storage arrays across a two-metre run. The cable arrives pre-coded for Cisco equipment and functions with other brands in the same network.
Instead of running four individual direct-attach cables from the switch, this breakout assembly consolidates the connections into one QSFP+ transceiver end. The upgrade is worth it when rack space is tight and cable management matters, or when the switch side has only QSFP+ ports available. It also reduces the number of patch-panel ports consumed by the link.
The QSFP+ end plugs into any compliant 40 Gbps port while the four SFP+ legs mate with 10 Gbps interfaces on servers, storage controllers or line cards. No external power is required beyond what the host ports supply. The lightweight .41 lb construction eases strain on dense port blocks and leaves more airflow for adjacent modules.
