Palm-sized PTZ with 5× optical zoom

The Axis M5074 is a compact PTZ dome camera delivering 720p resolution and 5× optical zoom plus 12× digital zoom. It suits installers who need discreet pan, tilt and zoom coverage for indoor or protected outdoor scenes. ONVIF support and a broad protocol stack simplify integration with most VMS platforms. Built-in analytics and Zipstream compression reduce storage and bandwidth demands.

Verify PoE class and mounting before ordering

The unit draws up to 9.3 W over IEEE 802.3af/at Class 3 PoE, so confirm your switch or injector can supply that budget. A single Ethernet cable carries both power and data, but the mounting surface must accept the Ø130 mm base. Network infrastructure must support IPv4/IPv6, RTSP and the listed QoS DiffServ tags for reliable streaming. One-way audio uses the integrated microphone only.

Upgrades fixed 720p domes when directional detail

This camera replaces static 720p domes where operators need to follow subjects across ±179° pan and 90° tilt at 100°/s. The jump is worth it when preset tours, 256 stored positions or autofocus recall cut manual intervention. It does not suit buyers who need 1080p or higher resolution, two-way audio, or outdoor-rated housings without an additional enclosure.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box and what must I buy separately?

The camera unit is supplied; a PoE injector or PoE switch compliant with IEEE 802.3af/802.3at Class 3 is required for power and data.

Should I choose the 5x optical zoom or rely on the 12x digital zoom?

Use the 5x optical zoom for true detail at distance; the 12x digital zoom only crops the 1280 x 720 image.

What does the 720P rating mean once the camera is mounted?

It delivers a 1280 x 720 video stream at up to 100°/s pan and 90° tilt with autofocus and WDR.
