Indoor 4K dome with deep learning

The Axis M4218-LV is an 8 megapixel network dome built for indoor surveillance. It captures 3840x2160 video and uses a deep learning processing unit for analytics on the edge. A varifocal lens with remote zoom and focus adjusts the field of view without a site revisit. Power over Ethernet and a microSD slot simplify installation and local recording.

Suits discrete indoor monitoring.

This camera fits offices, retail aisles and lobbies where a low-profile white dome blends in. WDR and OptimizedIR handle high-contrast scenes and pitch darkness. Buyers who need a weather-rated housing, a panoramic overview from a single unit, or wireless connectivity should look at other form factors. The HDMI type D port supports a local public-view monitor.

Varifocal lens with remote zoom and focus

The optical assembly covers a pan range of ±180°, tilt from -40° to +65° and rotation of ±105°. Remote zoom and auto focus let installers frame the scene precisely from the network interface. This single specification determines whether the camera can cover the required area without swapping fixed lenses.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the varifocal 8 MP model or a fixed-focal alternative?

The varifocal lens on this M4218-LV lets you adjust the field of view remotely between wide and narrow angles, so you can tune coverage after installation instead of committing to a single fixed perspective.

What does the 8 MP resolution deliver on a live feed?

The 1/2.8” sensor streams up to 3840x2160 pixels, giving detailed 4K video that can be viewed full-screen on the HDMI type D output or recorded to a microSDXC card or NAS.

What does the RJ45 100BASE-TX PoE connection limit in practice?

The 100 Mbps Ethernet port caps total bandwidth for video, audio and analytics traffic, so simultaneous high-bitrate 4K streams and cloud uploads share that single 100 Mbps pipe.
