25 ft Cat 5E patch cable

This Belkin cable links computers, routers and switches in a wired Local Area Network. It uses RJ45 connectors on both ends and meets the Cat 5E performance class for 10/100 Base-T traffic. The 25 ft length suits runs between rooms or across a home office.

Gold-plated connectors and stranded copper

Each RJ45 plug carries a 50 micron gold-plated finish that resists corrosion and maintains low contact resistance. The conductors are 24AWG bare stranded copper arranged in four twisted pairs, giving flexibility for routing around corners. Characteristic impedance is specified at 100±15 ohms from 1 to 100 MHz.

Cat 5E rating for 10/100 Base-T

The cable is certified to the Cat 5E standard, which supports Fast Ethernet speeds up to 100 Mbps. It will not carry Gigabit or 10 Gigabit rates, so buyers needing higher throughput should choose a Cat 6 or Cat 6A cable instead.

Questions about this item

Will the 24 AWG stranded copper conductors need replacement over time?

The stranded copper conductors are designed for flexible patch use and do not have a scheduled replacement interval under normal indoor conditions.

What limits the 25 ft length when running a 100 Mbps link continuously?

At 25 ft the cable stays well within the 100 m channel limit for 10/100 Base-T, so sustained throughput is not restricted by length.

Does the blue PVC jacket affect heat or power draw during all-day operation?

The passive cable draws no power and generates no measurable heat; the jacket colour has no thermal or electrical impact.
