Ideal length for desk runs

This Belkin Cat 6 patch cable measures four feet and terminates in RJ45 male connectors on both ends. It is designed for 100 Base-T and Gigabit Ethernet networks. The black jacket and moulded strain relief suit permanent or temporary installations.

Replaces shorter or damaged Cat 5e leads

Swapping a worn Cat 5e cable for this Cat 6 link restores headroom for Gigabit speeds over short distances. The upgrade is worth it when an existing lead is kinked, the clip is broken or the run sits near power cables that induce crosstalk.

Snagless boots protect the latch during routing

Push each connector until the tab clicks; the snagless mould stops the latch catching on adjacent ports or cable bundles. The only common issue is forcing the tab past a tight faceplate, which can bend the contact pins inside the plug.

Questions about this item

Will the 4 ft length reach from a wall jack to a desktop switch?

The cable measures 4 ft end to end, so it suits short runs such as a wall jack to a nearby switch or router.

How do I avoid damaging the RJ45 tab when plugging it in?

The snagless moulded boots cover the latch; push the connector straight in until it clicks rather than angling it.

Do the gold-plated contacts need cleaning over time?

The 50 micron gold plating resists corrosion, so no routine cleaning is required under normal indoor use.
