What this cable does

The Black Box CAT6PC-002-GN is a two foot green fibre optic patch cable built for short network links. It suits installers and IT staff who need a low-cost, category 6 connection between active equipment. The stranded construction keeps the cable flexible for routing inside cabinets or across patch panels. Buyers who need longer runs or outdoor-rated jackets should look elsewhere.

Build and connectors

The cable uses a PVC jacket and terminates in one RJ-45 male plug for direct connection to a network port. Stranded conductors allow repeated bending without damage during moves or maintenance. The green colour helps identify this link in a crowded rack. No additional mounting hardware or adapters are included.

Heat noise and power

As a passive copper cable it draws no power and generates no heat or noise during operation. Signal integrity meets category 6 performance over the stated length. There are no active components to fail or fans to manage.

Questions about this item

Does the Category 6 rating on this 2 ft green cable limit it to Gigabit speeds in practice?

The cable is rated Category 6 and fitted with RJ-45 Male connectors, so it will carry Gigabit Ethernet and higher rates over this short length.

What physical space does the RJ-45 Male connector need to fit into a switch or panel?

The connector is a standard RJ-45 Male plug measuring 2 ft end to end, so it fits any 8P8C port without extra clearance.

What is the common mistake when plugging this stranded patch cable into a keystone jack?

Because the cable uses stranded conductors, terminating it into a punch-down keystone jack instead of plugging the RJ-45 Male end into a port will give unreliable contact.
