Black Box EPWR52 Power Extension Cord

The Black Box EPWR52 is a power extension cord designed to provide additional reach for AC-powered equipment in office, data-centre or home environments. It suits installers and IT staff who need a reliable, standards-compliant lead to bridge the gap between a wall outlet or PDU and a device power supply.

Thermals noise and power draw

As a passive copper cable assembly the EPWR52 generates no audible noise and produces no measurable heat during normal operation. It draws zero power of its own and simply conducts the supply current required by the connected load without adding resistance that would affect thermal performance.

Upgrade considerations

This cord replaces shorter or damaged factory leads where the existing cable cannot reach the power distribution point. The upgrade is worthwhile when equipment must be repositioned beyond the original cable length or when a worn cord presents a safety concern.

Questions about this item

How do I wall-mount this 4.5-inch wide scaler, and which step is often missed?

Use the wall-mountable form factor and the supplied 5V 2A power supply; the step often missed is connecting the power supply before the HDMI and VGA cables so the OSD initialises correctly.

What maintenance or replacement will this converter need over time?

The remote control batteries will need periodic replacement; the unit itself has no user-serviceable parts and the 3-year limited warranty covers defects.

What is the first limit that appears under sustained operation?

The 1.1-inch height enclosure relies on passive cooling, so extended high-resolution scaling can raise the chassis temperature until thermal throttling reduces video processing performance.
