Two-Port DisplayPort KVM with USB and Audio

The Black Box KV9702A lets one DisplayPort monitor, a USB keyboard, a USB mouse, up to four USB peripherals and stereo audio control two computers. It connects each PC through a DisplayPort cable, a USB Type-B link and 3.5 mm audio cables, while the console side provides a single DisplayPort output, two USB Type-B upstream ports and four 3.5 mm jacks. Front push buttons and hotkeys switch the active system instantly without any driver installation. The unit weighs 2.6 kg and fits on a standard desk.

Suited for dual-PC operators needing shared

This switch serves users who run two workstations, such as a PC and a Mac, and want one keyboard, mouse, monitor, speaker set and up to four USB devices shared between them. It does not help buyers who need to control three or more computers from one console, nor those who require video resolutions above 2560 x 1600. It also cannot support DisplayPort Multi-Stream Transport for multiple monitors from a single output.

Maximum video resolution 2560 x 1600

The highest supported mode is 2560 x 1600, so the connected monitor and both source graphics outputs must be capable of that resolution for full-screen switching. If either computer or the display tops out at 1920 x 1200 or 1920 x 1080, the switch will still pass that lower signal, but 2560 x 1600 is the ceiling that determines whether the KV9702A matches the required video bandwidth.

Questions about this item

How do I connect the two computers to the KV9702A and which cable step is often missed?

Connect each computer with a DisplayPort cable, a USB Type-A to Type-B cable, and a 3.5 mm audio cable; the USB Type-B link is the one most often forgotten because it carries keyboard, mouse and hub data.

What parts of the KV9702A will need replacement after extended use?

The mechanical push-button switch and the USB Type-B ports on the rear panel are the components most likely to wear out from repeated switching and cable insertion cycles.

What resolution ceiling will I hit first when running the KV9702A continuously at high refresh?

The switch tops out at 2560 x 1600, so that resolution limit appears before any thermal or bandwidth throttling during sustained operation.
