Active optical cable delivers 40 Gbps over 15 metres for high-density 40GbE and Infiniband QDR links
This 15 metre QSFP+ active optical cable delivers 40 Gbps connectivity for data-centre switches, routers and servers. It is built to the QSFP+ MSA and SFF-8436 specifications and programmed for full Cisco QSFP-H40G-AOC10M= compatibility. The ultra-thin, lightweight construction reduces port stress and improves airflow in dense racks.
It fits networking teams deploying 40 Gb Ethernet, Infiniband QDR or 4G/8G/10G Fibre Channel over QSFP+ ports. The design is optimised for indoor rack-to-rack or intra-rack runs where standard active optical reach is sufficient. It does not serve links that require longer reach than 15 metres, ruggedised jacketing or direct-attach copper economics.
The cable provides a fixed 15 metre active optical link at 40 Gbps, which is the single parameter that determines whether it matches the physical topology of the installation.

Active optical cables consume very little power and produce minimal heat compared to copper alternatives, helping airflow in dense 40 Gbps deployments.
Both ends need QSFP+ ports that support 40 Gbps Ethernet, InfiniBand QDR or 4G/8G/10G Fibre Channel.
The cable is built for 40 Gbps QSFP+ links and does not automatically negotiate down to 10 Gbps SFP+ ports.
