USB crash-cart adapter for laptops

The Black Box Innovations KVT100A connects a single local user to a target laptop through a USB Mini-B to USB-A cable and a VGA link. It delivers a maximum video resolution of 1920 x 1200 in WUXGA mode. The unit is intended for administrators who need direct console access to servers or headless systems without a dedicated monitor or keyboard.

Bundled PS/2 adapter and software flash drive

A passive PS/2-to-USB keyboard adapter lets older keyboards work with the USB console port. The included flash drive holds the management software and user manual required to operate the adapter. These items remove the need to source legacy connectors or download drivers separately before a service call.

VGA and USB 2.0 interface limits

Video output is restricted to analog VGA at 1920 x 1200, so digital-only displays require an active converter not supplied here. The USB link uses a Mini-B connector, limiting compatibility to ports of that type. The receiver measures .60 by 2.90 by 4.50 inches and weighs 6.40 oz, fixing its physical footprint in a crash-cart kit.

Questions about this item

Does the USB mini-B to USB-A cable or the PS/2-to-USB adapter need periodic replacement?

The package includes one USB Mini Type B male to USB Type A male cable and one passive PS/2 to USB keyboard adapter; both are passive cables with no moving parts, so they do not require scheduled replacement.

What limits continuous operation at 1920 x 1200 resolution?

The adapter supports a maximum video resolution of 1920 x 1200 WUXGA; sustained use is limited by this resolution ceiling and the single local user connection.

How much heat or noise does the 6.40 oz receiver produce when left running all day?

The receiver measures .60 x 2.90 x 4.50 inches and weighs 6.40 oz with no fan or active cooling, so it generates minimal heat and operates silently.
