Capture and playback card

The Blackmagic Design DeckLink 8K Pro G2 is a PCIe capture and playback card built for professional video workflows. It handles SD, HD, Ultra HD, 4K and 8K frame sizes with up to 60 frames per second at 8K resolution. Four bi-directional 12G-SDI connections and an HDMI 2.1 input and output provide extensive multi-channel connectivity. The card targets broadcast, digital cinema and high dynamic range production environments.

PCIe slot and genlock check

Verify the host system has a PCI Express 8 lane generation 3 slot; the card is compatible with 8 and 16 lane slots. Ensure the chassis and motherboard provide sufficient physical clearance for the bracket and connectors. If multi-camera synchronisation is required, confirm an external genlock source such as blackburst or tri-sync is available for the reference input. Software compatibility with the intended editing or streaming application should also be confirmed.

Sustained multi-channel throughput

The four 12G-SDI links support up to 64 channels of embedded audio alongside uncompressed 10-bit YUV 4:2:2 or 12-bit RGB 4:4:4 video with full Rec. 2020 colour. The SDK allows configuration of up to four video streams in any direction at formats up to 4K DCI 60p for continuous multi-channel capture or playback. High frame rate operation reaches 120 frames per second in HD and 4K, maintaining consistent bandwidth across extended sessions.
